Coach Eric Cerda’s 2024/25 Season Recap
Our first season back in the CBL has come to an end, and whilst we ended up with a 1-9 record on paper, I want to highlight that this is only one measure. What ‘Wins’ and ‘Losses’ fail to reflect is the potential we all saw, it’s been a season of growth, learning, finding our strengths and working as a team on our weaknesses and ultimately, it’s been a test of our resilience as individuals and as a team. Basketball has a way of challenging everyone who gets involved, players, coaches, team admin and supporters alike no one is exempt and it’s why we all play our parts.
It was great to bring CBL basketball back to our local ‘Bullets’ and the feeling of competing our home court and in front of home crowd was definitely a large part of why I was so keen to be involved from the outset. Inspiring the next wave and helping to grow our great game in our hometown plays a huge part in why we do it. Having youngsters playing in showcase games and giving players high fives as they take the floor was great to see. Having seen the support of other teams during our away games, I am happy to say we are definitely amongst the league leaders in this particular category. The way our supporters, sponsors and our association rallied around us was fantastic and I want to express my gratitude to all involved.
To Shannon, Ian, Alisha and our dearest Harry I say thank you. Thank you for bringing your strengths to our team, thank you for your countless hours and vision in helping put Bairnsdale Basketball back into the fray. It’s certainly a difficult thing to build but providing a platform for local players to strive towards is sure to reap its rewards. Again, thank you.
To our guys, it was a tough season, but I truly enjoyed the challenge. The CBL is a complex league, where continuity and commitment to the game but also to each other is perhaps the most crucial element. I want to thank each and every one of you that laced up your shoes and joined us in whatever capacity along the way. I appreciate your time, your energy and what you ask of bodies as athletes. We have a ways to go, but on an individual level I appreciate what each of you brings to our team, thank you.
Looking forward to next season I am keen to see the CBL team continue to be challenged, to develop, to grow and to continually improve and achieve the results it deserves. Go Bullets.

A special mention for Harry, whose dedication and hard work over the past couple of years ensured the Bullets Men team are back on the CBL map. His enthusiasm and genuine support for the team has fostered a supportive and aim-high environment. There are many, many unnoticed hours Harry puts in behind the scenes, and no one can dispute his passion for the game, or dedication to anything he commits himself to – the atmospheres at our home games were awesome
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the volunteers that helped make our home games happen; it couldn’t have happened without the many hands that made it all happen.
A huge, huge thank you to our sponsors, the support and generosity they have shown is epic, and has been an instrumental part to facilitating a successful season.
