Round Three saw our Bullets take on their first double header. Our first match up on Saturday afternoon brought the nearby rival Sale Sonics onto our home court. Some notable selection availability from experienced Savage brothers as well as having some re-energised younger players certainly got the Bullets off to a great start.
An up and back encounter and a great mix of inside and outside play, some strong defence and a spark from Jake D saw the Bullets lead from siren to siren to take our first W for the season. The home crowd was a huge factor, and it was great to get it done in front of our home fans.
Backing up on the Sunday against the competitions current ladder leaders provided our team with another chance to build and test ourselves against the inform Warriors. The Warriors were efficient on the offensive end and had many threats across the floor. Excellent ball movement and a strangling press proved too much for our ball handlers, and we were bleeding points in transition. Full credit to Pakenham team, the back-to-back schedule and the experience of the Warriors proved too much in this encounter.
Well done to all of our players and supporters for putting on a great standard of basketball for our younger players to aspire to. It was great to see them in action in the pre-games and to watch them stick around and support us.
Next up, we make the away trip to Morwell @1pm on Sunday, so if you happen to be down that way or you would like to get behind everyone’s new favourite team, we’d love to see you there.
Go Bullets!
