Coach Eric’s recap: Round 4 saw our Bairnsdale Bullets make the trip down to Morwell to take on the Magic. The game was set for a balanced approach of speed and size for the visitors. The Magic were coming off a loss to the Warragal teams the night before and looked to square their ledger and the younger Bullets team.
The game was fast and physical from the outset and the early going was evenly matched. Back and forth efforts from both sides forced some very quick rotations and up until close to quarter the game was closely contested.
Late in the 1st and all of the 2nd quarter were hard going for the visitors, and Morwell had turned the game into a fast paced transition race. The Bullets endeavoured to match the game style, but made far too many mistakes in transition both offensively and defensively.
After the long break and a rev up from the coaching staff, our boys were much more accountable on the defensive end and forced the ball away from Morwell’s more experienced playmaking duo. The Bullets remained in the hunt and continued to push the home side with a heavy emphasis on bringing our experienced bigs into the game on the offensive end.
Ultimately though, the fight back fell short and the lapse in the 2nd quarter proved the turning point of the match. Full credit to the Morwell team and their coaching staff. For our team we head into this coming weekend with a similar challenge in a match up with the Wonthaggi Coasters. Really looking forward to being back in front of our home crowd over the weekend and hope to see you all there in full voice.
Go Bullets! 🔵🔴⚪
