Game cancellations
Weatherwise, that was some week. We hope the power is back on at your place!
Thank you for your patience and flexibility last Tuesday and Wednesday (and sorry we had to cancel games.)
Also thank you to everyone who shared our Facebook posts and text messages and helped spread the word.
We need to be able to rely on coaches and delegates to relay important messages to the players and parents in their teams.
Good news is it looks like we can reschedule those cancelled Tuesday and Wednesday games for March 26 and 27. We’ll update PlayHQ shortly.
Sale Tournament
The squad season is coming to the pointy end, with the Sale Basketball Association hosting their annual junior basketball tournament this weekend.
Good luck to all players and coaches flying the flag for the Bairnsdale Bullets!
Congratulations to our refs!
A huge well-done to Ellie McLeish and Anthony Kynoch, who recently became Level 1 Referees.
We are stoked to have Ellie and Anthony officiating in our comp! Well done you guys!
(Anthony was also selected to referee at the Division 1 and 2 Junior Country Champs this past weekend!)
Uniform rules amnesty
We’ve made some slight changes to the uniform rules.
If you haven’t already, please have a squiz.
A reminder that the uniform rules will not be applied for the first 3 weeks of the competition (however you cannot take the court if your shorts have pockets.)
Fill-in rules + procedure
Per Basketball Victoria rules, a non-registered player can “fill in” for a maximum of 2 games per calendar year. There is no charge for a fill-in player.
Coaches of graded teams are asked to please not use a fill-in player unless necessary to avoid a forfeit.
We’ve had a few teams use a fill-in when they already had 7 players.
Unnecessary use of fill-in players makes it harder to evaluate graded teams and keep the comp balanced.

Saturday Sessions
The Saturday Sessions have been a big hit!
Thank you to Eric Cerda, Zac Wearne, John Dick and Pat Dwyer for leading free and open training sessions at the BARC for domestic players over the past couple of weekends.
There won’t a session this coming Saturday because of squad tournament in Sale – the next Saturday Session will be Mar. 2, 3 – 5pm.
Keep an eye on bdaba.com.au/events/ for more training sessions and other events.
Timeline for player movement in graded comp
Because of the cancellations this week, we’re pushing the grading timeline back a week.
Teams in the graded comps (boys 10s, 12s, 14s and girls 13s and 17s) will remain unchanged for weeks 1 – 4.
After week 4, the committee will work with coaches to assess teams and move players between teams if necessary to improve the balance of the competition.
(We will make player movements before Week 4 if needed.)
Parents and coaches will be notified of player movements via text message.
The BARC
The committee is in regular conversation with East Gippsland Shire Council re: stadium improvements and maintenance issues at the BARC.
If you have anything you want us to bring up, please let us know. You can contact the committee here: bdaba.com.au/contact/
