The BDABA Committee is aware that incorrect uniforms caused a number of disputes and complaints last season.
We’ve make a few tweaks to the Uniform Regulations this year – see below.
There will be an amnesty on uniform penalties in the first three rounds, however players cannot take the court with shorts that have pockets.
Players, coaches and referees are encouraged to read and understand the Uniform Regulations, and apply them correctly and consistently.
Per BDABA By-Laws
The uniform of all team members shall consist of:
- Basketball jerseys of the same dominant colour front and back. If jerseys have sleeves they must end above the elbow. Long sleeved jerseys are not permitted. ‘All-in-ones’ are permitted.
- T-shirts, regardless of the style, are not permitted to be worn under the jerseys.
- Note: Loose t-shirts or tracksuits are not permitted.
- Each player shall wear black shorts, or shorts of the same colour as their tops. All team members must be wearing the same colour shorts.
- The shorts must be without pockets and be predominantly the same color. Small non-offensive logos are acceptable. Players cannot take the court if shorts have pockets.
- Skins or compression leggings are acceptable underneath shorts and/or shirts provided they are either black or white or skin tone or in team colors.
- Each team member shall wear a jersey numbered on the front and back with plain numbers, of a colour contrasting with the colour of the jersey.
- Players on the same team shall not wear the same number.
- It is the duty of each player to ensure that their correct team uniform is worn in all games. Items of incorrect uniform will be penalized as follows: –
Shorts – 2 Game Points
Tops – 2 Game Points
This will occur after the uniform amnesty of the first three rounds. Any dispute regarding uniform, in the first instance, shall be raised with the officiating referees before a game begins.
If a team wishes to lodge a formal dispute regarding a uniform ruling, a complaint can be lodged through the BDABA website – bdaba.com.au/feedback/ – which is then forwarded to the BDABA Committee for review.
Jerseys provided, as a set, by the Association, shall be exempt from penalties.
