The Weekly – March 12, 2024

Registration Now Open

All registered players/parents of registered players will have received an email last week with the link to register for the upcoming Winter season.

This email will have gone to the email address you provided when you registered your player this past season. (If you don’t see it, please check your spam folder.)

The deadline for registrations is end of day Sunday, 31 March.

Traralgon Tournament

Congratulations to everyone who represented Bairnsdale at the Traralgon tournament this past weekend.

Special mention to the under 10 boys team who made it to the grand final, and took home the chocolates! Well done fellas!

We had four other teams make it as far as the semi-finals – a huge effort.

There’s more info, and pics, at the BDABA Facebook page.

Saturday Session

There will be a free and open training session for all domestic players at the BARC this Saturday, March 16.

3 – 4pm for ages 7 – 11

4 – 5pm for ages 12+

(These age brackets are not strictly enforced! Just choose the session that best fits your young player.)

Thank you to all our great local coaches and helpers who make these free Saturday Sessions possible.

Keep an eye on bdaba.com.au/events/ for more training sessions and other events.

Fingernails

A reminder to all players that according to Basketball Victoria regulations fingernails must be closely cut to eliminate the threat of accidentally scratching other players.

To avoid delaying play on the night, please make sure fingernails are trimmed before you come to the BARC.

Jersey Doesn’t Fit?

If a player has a jersey that is too big or too small, please come and see us. (Check with your team delegate first – they may have the spare jerseys.)

Try and get to the BARC 5 or 10 minutes earlier than you normally would, and look for the Night Coordinator (fluro vest) or any committeemember.

We might have one up in the office that’s a better fit.

The BARC – Maintenance Issues?

The committee is in regular conversation with East Gippsland Shire Council re: stadium improvements and maintenance issues at the BARC.

If you have anything you want us to bring up, please let us know.

You can contact the committee here: bdaba.com.au/contact/

Winter Season for Graded Teams

A reminder to all coaches and parents that there will be some player movement between teams following the conclusion of this season, and those teams will then begin the Winter season.

We will need to wait until registrations close and we can confirm who is playing before we can finalise Winter seasons teams.

While the graded comps have been much more even and competitive than last year, there are still some improvements and changes to make.

Please keep in mind that player movement is a normal and natural part of the comp.

Thank you to all the coaches who attended the recent grading meeting to advise on player movements.
