Free Throws

The free throw regulations were changed at the beginning of 2024.

The current regulation is that players in T10, U10, U12 and U13 comps shoot from the blue line marked in the key.

Players in all other comps will shoot from the regular (white) foul line.

Man-on-Man and Zone Defence

Current BDABA competition by-laws state that only players in U16s and above can play zone defense.

All other grades must play man-to-man.

We have heard from coaches that they’d like younger grades to be able to play zone, and so this will be reviewed by the committee. But the regulation as written above stands for the moment.

If a referee suspects zone defense is being played in grades below U16s, a warning will be issued, followed by technical foul on the coach if it persists.
