Are your kids aged 5-8 and eager to learn basketball? Ford Aussie Hoops is the perfect introductory skills program where they can grow, learn, and enjoy the thrill of basketball in a supportive and inclusive environment. We’re passionate about nurturing the next generation of basketball stars and fostering a love for the game at every level.
Our goal is to provide an exciting, fun, and inclusive program for your little superstars. They’ll build their skills and understanding of the game through engaging activities and drills to develop skills like passing, dribbling, shooting, and teamwork, all while having a blast! Mini practice matches are also part of the fun. Throughout the sessions, a big emphasis is put on teamwork and great sportsmanship, as well as individual growth

We are fortunate to have dedicated coaches who have provided Working with Children Checks and have completed or are completing required coaching courses. They volunteer their time to create a fantastic program for your kids, planning weekly and investing time into ensuring we deliver the best program possible, and your children grow a love of the game. Without our Coaches, there wouldn’t be a program!
Program Details
We offer an exciting program each school term at the Bairnsdale Aquatic and Recreation Centre Stadium (BARC). Our programs typically run for 6-8 weeks, with each weekly session running for 45 minutes.
Current Session Options: Thursdays at 4:15pm OR Fridays at 5:15pm. Please note that days and times may vary each term due to court availability and other basketball activities.
Registration Information: Registrations open 3-4 weeks before the next program starts. You can register through PlayHQ. If Aussie Hoops isn’t listed as an option, it means registrations aren’t open yet, so keep an eye out!
Children typically spend 1-4 terms in Aussie Hoops, each child is different! Each term, our Coaches identify the children that may be ready to move to competitions and reach out to the families to discuss. If you feel your child is ready to move to competitions, please have a chat with the Coaches.
For children that have completed a few terms of Aussie Hoops, or may already have established skills, there is the U8’s and U10’s Summer and Winter competitions, please email our Competitions team on competitions@bairnsdalebasketball.com.au for more info about these competitions.
New Participants: You will receive an email shortly after registering inviting you to purchase the Starter pack for your child. Don’t forget to purchase the Starter Pack, which includes a shirt and ball. It usually takes 3 weeks to arrive and is sent directly to your house so order the pack as soon as possible.

Welcome Email: All registered families will receive a welcome email with more information about the upcoming term just before the program begins. We usually don’t start the program as soon as the term commences so you may not receive the Welcome email until a few weeks into the term 😁

Join Our Ford Aussie Hoops Coaching Team!
We’re on the hunt for an Ford Aussie Hoops Coordinator (approximately three hours a week commitment) and always scouting for energetic Coaches (one hour a week commitment). Aussie Hoops roles are volunteer, are packed with fun and incredibly rewarding. Training and support are provided.
